Commodore's Cut Wax Cutter
Handcrafted from a Trail's End bourbon barrel
A wax-dipped bottle deserves a proper tool to open it — and this one carries a story worth sharing.
Each Commodore's Cut wax cutter is handcrafted from American White Oak, reclaimed from the head of a Trail's End bourbon cask provided by Master Distiller Caitlin Bartlemay of Clear Creek Distillery. The wood is shaped and finished by hand by Master Woodcrafter Leoni Montenegro, right here in the Columbia River Gorge, and engraved with the Commodore's Cut mark.
Because each is made from genuine reclaimed barrel oak, no two are exactly alike — the grain, tone, and character are unique to every piece. This is a limited run from a single barrel head.
It's precision-built, too: the blade seats into a cavity shaped by hand to match its exact profile, for a clean, reliable edge with no play. And because it uses a standard replaceable blade, the oak handle you fall in love with today will serve you for years to come.
Designed to score and lift the wax seal cleanly, it's a functional tool and a collectible keepsake in one — equally at home on the bar or in the hand of someone about to pour something worth sharing.
American White Oak · Reclaimed Trail's End barrel wood · Handcrafted in the Columbia River Gorge · [Laser/CNC]-engraved Commodore's Cut medallion · Replaceable blade · Limited quantity
